Research into action

Beyond Current Horizons will produce accessible resources that can be used by diverse audiences.

This area of activity will develop a set of tools that allow policy makers, industry and leading stakeholders to make practical use of the evidence and ideas generated from the research programme, in order to make informed and effective decisions about education strategy at national, regional and local levels.

Available by spring 2009, the tools will include:

• A tool to support scenario development, with guidance on how to use this in different settings. This is intended to help democratise and demystify the ‘futures’ thinking process.
• An easily searchable resource bank of all the evidence and ideas generated throughout the project. This will be made accessible in ways that are of use to all stakeholders.
• A set of ‘Beyond Current Horizons Scenarios’, developed from the challenges research. These will be designed to support strategic decision making.
